Amiga
Listener mail from Simon
God Bless The Amiga.
I saved and saved for an Amiga 500 and then when I finally had enough money the A1200 got released so I bought that. I was THRILLED with it, slapped an expansion card into the slot and then saved and saved again and got an Amiga 4000. At last, I was at the cutting edge of home computing - the best GUI in the world (Workbench) as far as I was concerned - the envy of all my friends who had crappy PCs running Windows. And then they went bust!
Can't tell you how gutted I was - all those rumours about the new RICS chip from Motorolla being incorporated into the next gen Amigas just dashed to pieces. Needless to say, I'm now on an Apple - they give you the same feeling as the Amiga used to and makes you want to use it and have fun with it.
The hours I lost playing Speedball, Project X, James Pond, Worms, Eye Of The Beholder and watching porno on floppy discs that you could order through the post!. I remember finishing Project X on the day that John Major stood up in the House Of Commons and announced that Charles & Diana were splitting up.
I've still got the A1200 (with memory expansion!!!!)
All the best and thanks for a great show blah blah ......
Just settling down with some Stellas to watch the England v Uruguay. It's free on BBC !!! |
